DAAAA BEAST wrote:I would like to know how this heavy performs with HMG and Forge gun . Mostly interested in HGM but I will need to AV also ! Was first in Minmatar Sentinel but I heard good things about caldari heavies ! So how is it ? I am skilled to Proto in Caldari, Minmatar, and Amarr Sentinels. For a while I was often using all three suits in the course of a match depending on situation.
The Caldari Sentinel is tough, particularly against other HMG Sentinels due to the damage profile of the HMG. The biggest weakness I found was the lack of stamina. It is not very mobile. Good for defending an area, but you donGÇÖt want to have to run any long distances, as you will constantly have to stop and catch your breath.
I tend to use the Amarr Sentinel more in that role now, using two Proto Armor repairs to emulate the quick recovery of a shield suit. The Amarr Seninel is technically even slower than the Caldari, but it has ample stamina, which makes it effectively a lot faster for covering longer distances.
If you are just defending one point, and donGÇÖt intend to travel, the Caldari Sentinel with an HMG is very effective.
Read my HMG Sentinel Guide for more information.

While the HMG gets -15% damage against your shields, the Laser Rifle (and other laser weapons) gets +20 damage against shields.

QRT30 wrote:Caldari heavy you have play like a scout. Shoot ,cover, wait for shields, shoot, repeat... But adv is the beast with two complex damage modes and energizer in high slots. Actually it plays like an Assault, assuming someone knows how to play a shield Assault suit correctly, which is actually what you just described.
The Minmatar Sentinel with a Burst HMG is the one that plays like a Scout. (2 Kin Cats on an Advanced or Proto Min Sent sprints at 7.7m per second.) Always fun to chase Assault suits down and shoot them in the back of the head. Min Sent with 2 Kin Cats is also the best HMG fit vs Scouts, although it is very weak against other HMG Sentinels.

Minsent is hilarious but harder to employ properly than the caldari. Shield fatty mantra: Neverstopmovingneverstopmovingneverstopmovingneverstopmoving. Repeat constantly until the words settle into your brain as gospel. Breakin Stuff is absolutely right, particularly in regard to the Min Sent. The only time you should not be sprinting is when you are shooting, and even then you should be strafing and moving as much as possible.

Damn scouts trying to stop me from ganking vehicles don't kill themselves, you know.
I do now and then... That is what I was thinking. Obviously Breakin Stuff has never seen me try to play a Scout.
